Golden Retriever: Sturdy Collars and Coats for an Active Breed
Golden Retrievers are friendly, athletic and enthusiastic. They also pull on exciting days, so strong hardware and a roomy fit are the priorities.
Collars and leads
Look for full-grain leather with solid brass hardware and stitching that is rated for a large dog. A wider strap spreads pressure across the neck.
Coats
The double coat handles cold well but not wet weather. A waterproof layer that does not trap heat is the best choice for rainy walks.
Goldens usually sit in size L–XL. Measure the chest at its widest point and leave two fingers of room.
